Seller Note “Dead”
Summary
- I bought this card mainly in the hope of using my working one to help me fix it.
- Good condition, warranty sticker on.
- Resistances
- VCore – 0.9
- VMem – 32.6
- VDCI – 27.9
- Display Rail – 25.8
- 1.8V – 3.9K
- 5V – K++ high
- 3.3V – 2.6K
- 12V – K+ high
- All voltages present, hot core, but no display.
- Card not detected.
- No BIOS activity
- PEX reset short – 2.2 Ohms
- There is a shorted component, removal removed the PEX RST short
The first two pictures show the shorted component, I can’t identify it from it’s markings. I managed to find the same component on an MSI RX 590 donor board. Unfortunately, transferring it has not fixed the card.
Next Steps
- I have a working PowerColor RX590, hopefully, I can measure the expected voltages on the test pads around the mystery component.
- Possibly the replaced component is faulty or I messed up the soldering.
- Quite possibly though, the core is faulty, as a short on PEX reset seems concerning even if it was the mystery component.
