Seller Note “This seller lists all cards as faulty / having failed QA”
Summary
- It’s this one https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/msi-rtx-2080-ventus-oc.b6200
- I bought it on impulse, I am seeing how things go with this seller. They regularly list various rather nice cards, but only list a generic fault description (I generally don’t buy untested/blind unless the price is compelling). The price this time seemed very fair for a RTX 2080 at £59, so here goes!
- Cosmetically fine, warranty sticker intact
- No shorts on 12V/3.3V, will not POST
- Spotted residue on the cooler near the PCI-E connectors, looks like liquid damage
- Resistances
- VCore – 0.5Ω
- VMem – 20Ω
- PEX – 10.7Ω
- 1.8V – 3.4KΩ
- 5V – 5KΩ
- 3.3V – High, KΩ++
- 12V – Very high, KΩ++
- No shorts, so suspect there could be voltage rail issues if there has been a liquid spill. Indeed there are:
- 5V -yes, 1.8V – yes, PEX -, yes, VCore – 0.8V, VMem – No
- OK, this gives me some hope. I need to investigate how the VMem rail is formed
Investigating the missing VMem rail …
