Here we can see the damaged PCI lane capacitors, because they are in the first lane, the card is not detected.

Next, clean the pads and traces with a craft knife:

Initially, I tried using replacement copper pads. My mistake was then trying to solder a jumper wire onto them, which resulted in the pads getting consumed in the solder and me giving up on the pads. In hindsight, I probably should have pressed the capacitor on with tweezers and soldered the traces to the capacitor ends directly, but ‘I tried, failed and hopefully learned for next time’

Then I tried soldering jumper wires from the test points across, making a mess of things.
